If your air filter is too full of the dust and debris that it usually filters out, the particles then recirculate back into your home.
The most serious consequence for not keeping a consistent maintenance routine and changing your air filters is a costly repair when your HVAC system fails. A dirty air filter can eventually cause costly internal damage.
